Looking for Ray Noble 1930's bandleader
and songwriter?
Ray Noble scored a lot of familiar hits of the 1930s such
a "Easy to Love" (1937), "Mad About the Boy" (1935), "Paris in the Spring" (1935). These songs last because of their
great melodies and lyrics, but above all they are fantastic tunes arranged by a craftsman.I am often asked if I am related to the great man. We certainly have in common a love of music and our
name. One morning in 1978 laying in my bed listening to the radio I heard that 'Ray Noble is dead!' Such a surreal announcement
about my well-being made me feel like a character in a novel by Kafka. But sadly it was a report on the death of
the great man aged 71. His song 'The Very Thought
Of You' is a classic of popular songs covered by great artists such as Nat King Cole, Billy Holiday, Frank Sinatra, and more
recently by Rod Stewart in his unique style. Several artists have had hits in the charts with this poetic song - and who
hasn't experienced the nature of love expressed in the whimsical lyrics of this hit?
The very thought of you and I forget to do The little ordinary
things that everyone ought to do I'm living in a kind of daydream I'm happy as a king And foolish though it may seem To
me that's everything
